Maker of things (mostly websites). Provo lover. General nice person.
Tell us about the brand that you are hoping to grow.
I am a freelance web designer. I currently focus on WordPress development, and have loved the customizability of using WordPress for my clients. I am also working on developing my skills and knowledge to be able to provide additional, more comprehensive services in the future, SEO optimization, etc.
What inspired you to start?
I have this beautiful friend, Riana Wright (you really need to meet her if you haven’t), who invited me to the WordPress course held by World Tech Academy here in Provo. She not only invited me, but she’s also incredibly encouraging and helped me realize that I deserve to do something that makes me happy. And even though it may be super tough at times, that it can be done. That it can be done by ME. It’s also so fun learning cool new things with your BFF. (Check out her web design, graphic design and branding portfolio at uspluswe.com! She’s LITERALLY the best. I know you’ll love her as much as I do.)
If you have a mission, goal, or vision for your brand, what would it be?
My overall goal is to be able to use and develop skills that can help people do things they can’t do as easily for themselves. I’d also like to be proud of what I do and who I am as a person. I feel like I’m headed in the right direction.
Who is your target audience?
My target audience is anyone and everyone who is in need of a new website or a website redesign. I have especially loved, however, working with individuals and small business owners. I love to see the fire in their eyes and the passion that they have for their work. I want them to be successful, and so it’s super cool to help them in a part of that journey.
What’s the biggest challenge and biggest success that you’ve experienced so far with your brand?
My biggest challenge has been trying to manage my work as a web designer while working full-time. I had been going at a pace that I was not particularly happy with – unfortunately, I can’t do it all. But I’ve taken the plunge recently, and am going for my goals. Right now, I’m working a part-time job while spending a LOT more of my time working on my brand and business. I think I would count that as my greatest success so far. It’s scary to go for things you want sometimes, but we can’t be successful unless we take a step forward.
What do you hope to learn at the Braid Workshops?
I would love to learn more about the financial and legal aspects of running your own business, and also marketing yourself and self-promotion. And probably lots of other things that I probably don’t even know I should know. Excited to learn it all.
Who do you hope to meet at the Braid Workshops?
Honestly, I’d love to meet friends. I’d love to learn from people (let’s be real, I have so much to learn), but I’d also just love to help build this community that we’re so lucky to have right here in our neighborhood.
